Application and Performance Evaluation of Model Predictive Controllers on Driving Force Based Reactive Distillation Processes

In this work, integrated design and control of Reactive Distillation (RD) column operating under Model Predictive Controller (MPC) is presented. At first, a target defined, the RD designed based on element concept at maximum driving force. After that, steady state simulation carried out in ASPEN PLUS that satisfies target. Next, flow driven dynamic system linearized Dynamics space matrices are obtained. Using matrices, MPC closed-loop MATLAB. To quantify both operation, multi objective function defined takes into account (total energy consumption, total carbon footprint), performance (Integral Absolute Error, variation input, relative gain array, Niederlinski Index). For further verification, an alternative non-maximal force also obtained, corresponding performed. The controller feed disturbance shows process exhibit better compared to does not take available force.
